Canadian Car Dealers, A Dead Guy, and YouTube

G.K. ChestertonWhen this guy died in 1936 he already knew more than most car dealers in Canada today do about how to make a great YouTube video review.

“But Dave, YouTube wasn’t invented until 2005. What could this old dude possibly have known that we don’t?”

His name was G.K. Chesterton and he famously said,

“Anything worth doing is worth doing badly, until you get it right”

At some point, all dealers making good videos made a decision to start making videos, (even bad ones). They stopped talking about it and took action. They did something most won’t, they executed.

They were also willing to step in front of the camera and risk looking foolish in front of their peers, employees, customers, and family.

It takes a lot of guts to do this. It’s not as easy as it may appear.

Because it’s so hard to do, few auto dealers have done it, at least up until now.

By the end of this year (2012) most large dealerships and auto groups in Canada will be making videos and posting on YouTube. (If they’re not already).

Many of these videos will start showing up on organic Google searches. (That’s free traffic, our favourite kind).

You know what I’m talking about, right? You’ve seen some already, haven’t you? You know, the ones where you search for one of the car models you sell in your city, see a video from a dealership you recognize and ask, “how did they do that?”

What do you want your customers seeing when they search for your store and or the products you sell?

Your content, or that of your competitions?

It’s time.

You know it.

So does the guy across the street.

What are you waiting for?

Start today.

By the way, if you haven’t heard the term Video SEO before, you soon will.

Making videos is important.

Making sure your prospects actually watch them takes work.

We are pretty good at that part. If you want to know more, let us know.
